The Caloundra Street Fair is a hidden gem on the Sunshine Coast. It’s a street fair featuring 100 unique stalls and has something for everyone. So today I’m going to share 5 reasons to visit the Caloundra Street Fair.
1. Support Local Artists & Designers
Anyone who knows me would know I’m a big fan of supporting local businesses. And that’s what I love about going to the markets. Not only do you know you’re supporting a local. But you also get to meet the people behind the lovely pieces you’re purchasing. And I just love that added personal touch.
I love learning their stories of why they created their businesses and what inspires them to keep creating their pieces.
Like the two lovely ladies I met today.
Firstly, the beautiful girl behind Crescent Moon Candles. I was instantly drawn to her stall because I love candles but these ones looked a lot prettier than standard candles. Turns out each candle has crystals and flower petals embedded in them. And when you burn them the crystals still always stay on top.
Not only that, but they smell divine too. I opted for the Salted Caramel scent instead of my usual go to of Coconut & Lime and I was drawn to this particular crystal selection because of the polka dot crystal at the back. These crystals are for a joyful future so it was a perfect match for me.
Then I met the lovely lady behind Fox & Dollbaby. Wow, her art is so eclectic and colourful and I couldn’t walk past without having a chat to her. Firstly because I saw some Alice in Wonderland pieces and everyone knows I’m totally Alice obsessed. And then because her name reminds me of Wheels & Dollbaby which I was equally obsessed with.
She started to tell me about how she has given herself a challenge each year for the last 6 years. And has drawn 100 pieces in a 100 days based on what people have asked her for. Then she adds colour and turns them into the prints we can buy. They’re so beautiful and I highly recommend checking her out.
As you can see, I couldn’t leave empty handed.
Now of course there’s plenty of other lovely stalls from clothes, to plants, sweets and more. There really is something for everyone and you’re guaranteed to find something you like.
2. Fresh Local Food
Of course it wouldn’t be a market without some fresh local food. The Caloundra Street fair definitely has it covered when it comes to food stalls to choose from. And they’re all conveniently located in the centre of the fair around a beautiful big tree which provides a lovely amount of shade for you to relax under while you eat.
I couldn’t go past the Tibetan Momos to start followed by a delicious crepe with strawberries, cream and caramel sauce. And a freshly squeezed orange juice for good measure. Mmmmmm
3. Great Live Entertainment
While you’re enjoying your food stop you can also soak up the soothing sounds of the live entertainment. And while you’re wandering through the stalls you’ll see and hear other entertainment as well. They’re all super talented and it’s a great way to add to the overall experience of the Caloundra Street Fair.
Today Sorah Snow’s voice was a delight in the main area of the fair.
4. Not far from lovely Bulcock Beach
And your day doesn’t have to end there. Once you’re done with wandering through the stalls and have satisfied your tummy with all the yummy food. You can head to Bulcock Beach which is only a few minutes walk up the road. It’s a beautiful little stretch of beach which has a bit of a calm inlet created by a rock wall.
And for the surfers and stronger swimmers you can go to the other side of the rocks and get your fix of waves.
All in all visiting the Caloundra Street Fair is a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning and there’s something there for everyone. It’s suitable for families, couples, oldies, youngies and even your pets!
The Caloundra Street Fair is on every Sunday from 8am – 1pm. For more information on visiting or getting involved with the Caloundra Street Fair go here.
