Some time ago I did a branding photo shoot and one of the venues we shot at was the Ikatan Day Spa Noosa. Which is a gorgeous Balinese inspired spa in the heart of Noosa’s forest. Knowing how much I love Bali and indulging myself in spa treatments this was a perfect location for me to be captured.
While we were wandering around the grounds I promised myself I’d come back for a treatment one day. But, as usually happens with these kinds of indulgences. I got caught up in my day to day business schedule and never gave it another thought.
Until my birthday. My beautiful friends had paid attention to my shoot and ended up buying me a voucher for the spa. So yesterday I decided to treat myself by redeeming one of the spa packages.
Ikatan Day Spa Noosa has a range of packages to choose from. Ranging from a full day of pampering to a simple one hour massage, there’s something there to suit everyone’s needs.
I decided to go with the Samsara Package which includes a 75 minute Balinese massage, 60 minute facial and 45 minute pedicure. It’s purpose is a continuous flow to revive, renew, and regenerate. And I can definitely confirm it did all those things for me.
If you’re thinking about going you can check out the full range of treatments and packages here.
About the experience
From the moment you walk through the gate into Ikatan Day Spa Noosa you instantly become relaxed. There’s just something so calming about the tranquil rainforest backdrop and Balinese set up. Once you check in you’ll be taken to a private section (of your choice) in the garden where you’ll be served a pre-treatment drink. I chose a delicious pomegranate iced tea from T2 mmmm.
Depending how early you are you’ll have time to relax and take in your surroundings while you wait for your therapist. You’re encouraged to get there at least 20 minutes before but I was earlier so I read while I waited.
One of the best things about this spa is their no phone policy once you walk through the gates. There’s signs everywhere reminding you to switch your phone off or to flight mode. Naturally I chose flight mode as I still wanted to be able to take pictures. But even this was enough to send my boyfriend into a panic when he tried to ring me and was shocked to find my phone off. Just goes to show how rarely I actually fully disconnect so this was a welcome moment for me.
Indulge your senses
Once I was collected by my lovely therapist she took me to a cute little room where she explained how the treatment would work. Then I was left to get ready and the relaxation instantly began.
I’ve had my fair share of massages in Bali so I was a little interested to see how an Australian would perform this style massage. But it felt divine. Same warm oil they use in Bali, great pressure and perfect technique. I later learnt from my therapist that the owners of Ikatan Day Spa Noosa regularly go back to Bali to learn the latest methods. So they ensure they are staying current.
Once the massage was done the facial started and this was just divine. I’m usually nervous about facials because I have quite sensitive skin. But the products used here are all natural and very gentle and soothing. And while the peel was setting I even got a head massage which really topped off the treatment.
It’s the little things that count
And it doesn’t just end with the facial. You even get a little makeup touch up so you walk out feeling relaxed and beautiful. Once the massage and facial are over you’re left to get dressed. Your therapist will prepare you more tea if you like. This time I went for a hot ginger and lemongrass one which definitely made me feel like I was in Bali.
And then it’s time for your pedicure. The other little touch I loved is that you get to keep the nail polish colour you chose. So you’ll be able to keep your toes looking great for weeks after the treatment.
And once the pedicure is complete you get to relax in the garden once more with a champagne or another tea if you like. I chose the pomegranate tea again, but this time it was served in a champagne flute so I got to still feel fancy. If you like they also have a restaurant you can choose some light afternoon tea from.
The staff recommend you allow 20 minutes after your treatment is complete to relax and come back to your senses. But you’re welcome to stay longer if you like. I was alone and it was getting late in the afternoon so I decided to move on pretty quickly.
But all in all it was a fantastic treatment. I highly recommend Ikatan Day Spa Noosa if you want to treat yourself to an afternoon of indulgent pampering while visiting the Sunshine Coast. You know you deserve it!
