As you’ve probably realised, Pinterest is the place to be if you’ve got an online business. But since a huge focus of the platform is about sharing other people’s content, it can sometimes seem hard to stay on brand. And if you’re anything like me and like everything to look cohesive and branded then it’s good to know how to create branded Pinterest board covers.
Pinterest board covers not only help tie your Pinterest account with your brand. They are also eye catching and are an easy way to showcase exactly what your Pinterest account has to offer to the viewer. It’s just another way of looking more professional and keeping on brand. And the best part is, it’s super simple and doesn’t take long at all. So why wouldn’t you?
Before we get into it, here’s an example of how my account looked prior to me adding branded board covers.
Now let me show you how to create branded Pinterest board covers so your account doesn’t have to look like this.
How to Create Branded Pinterest Board Covers
Step One: Create your cover design
As usual I used Canva for this. If you’re not familiar with Canva you can create a free account here: Canva.com
You’ll notice if you search Pinterest there’s no board covers option. Just remember, Pinterest board covers require the template to be square so once you’ve logged into Canva choose a square design. It’s usually the one called Social Media and it’s generally one of the first recommended ones.
You can choose from a variety of layouts and styles. I recommend using the same style for each of your covers, and trying to go with a style that matches your branding. Consistency is key!
Step Two: Upload your design to Pinterest
Once you’re happy with your designs you can either download each of the images and upload them to your Pinterest boards manually.
Or you can publish them straight to Pinterest from Canva (this feature was made available in the recent Canva 2.0 upgrade).
Make sure you upload each image to the relevant Pinterest board you want it to be the cover for.
Step Three: Set your cover
Once you’ve uploaded each of your cover images to their relevant boards on Pinterest you can now set them as covers.
Go to your Pinterest profile and click edit on your first board. Scroll down to the section where it says Cover and click on Change. Select the image you want to use as your cover and save the settings. Voila your cover has now been set. Then you just need to follow this process for each of the boards you want to set covers for.
The process can get a little tedious so I only did it for my first 10 boards to begin with. As they’re the ones most people see when they come to my account and do a quick scroll. So you could start by doing something similar and then just editing a few per day if you have a lot of boards.
And there you have it, a simple process on how to create branded Pinterest board covers. To follow the process on video watch my tutorial below:
Remember, pretty branded Pinterest accounts are great, but at the end of the day the aim is to get people to your website. And for that to work you need people to be viewing your Pinterest profile.
