Building Your Brand
Now let’s have some fun. Building your brand is something you will be doing constantly.
Your brand is what people will be attracted to so you need to forever be building your brand, maintaining it, and improving it.
Think of all the top brands you know, what do they all have in common?
- They know their audience
- They have a certain uniqueness about them
- They have passion
- They’re consistent
- They show leadership
- They have exposure
So how do you become a top brand in an industry like this?
First you need to actually START! Lot’s of people come up with an awesome brand idea and leave it at just that, an idea. Do something with it.
You’re going to want to have a website to be the hub of your business, that’s where you can build and store content that people can keep coming back for. You’re also going to need various other systems in place to actually drive people to your offer and to be able to keep them seeing your offer.
Here’s the key things you’ll need to build your brand when you’re starting from scratch – today I’ll be touching on them briefly and as the weeks go by I’ll explain each topic in a lot more depth so you can be as equipped as possible to start your own online empire.
1. REGISTER YOUR DOMAIN
There’s two reasons why you need a domain.
- first you need a name for your website – remember that brand name you came up with? This is where you put it to use.
- to disguise your affiliate links – people are much more likely to click on a personalised brand link than the same old affiliate link they’ve seen over and over again. Both GoDaddy and BlueHost have really simple options for setting up sub-domains (I’ll post a video about this soon so don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss out).
2. BUILD YOUR WESBITE/BLOG
These days you can start up a blog in a matter of minutes – if you’ve struggled with this before just check out my post on How To Start A Blog where I break it down for you step by step.
As mentioned before, your blog is like the centre of your business, a blog is about longevity. It’s your island on the internet which you get more and more visitors to as you start building a presence online. So while at first it might seem like a lot of work for little return, remember your content is always there and the more value you provide the better it will serve you in the long run.
3. LEAD/CAPTURE PAGES
The key to building your online business is capturing leads (email addresses). People will generally need to see an offer at least 7 times before they will commit to buying it. If you’re an affiliate most companies will have their own capture pages you can use which are coded to you, however with everyone using the same pages they can get a little old fast.
So to attract more people to give you their email, you can make your own personalised capture pages. This also builds on your brand more because you’re bringing your own personality and are more likely to attract people that think like you.
I personally use a service called LeadPages to make mine – below is an example of one. I’ll run through how to actually do these in more detail on another day.
4. EMAIL LIST
So once you capture these emails where do they all go? It’s good to have an autoresponder service where your list will automatically be saved. You can use these services to set up automatic emails so you don’t actually have to write emails all the time but new signups will always hear from you. Email marketing is one of the highest converting methods because as people get to know you better and continue to see your offer, they are more likely to end up buying from you. A good email service, and the one I personally use, is GetResponse. Again I’ll go into this in more detail another day.
5. SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE
The best way to build relationships with people is through your social media presence.
Some of the top sites are:
Facebook – 968 million active daily users
Instagram – 400 million active daily users
Twitter – 270 million active users and adding 30,000 users per day
YouTube – over 1 billion users and reaches more 18-34 year olds than any cable network in the US.
Think about where YOUR audience is and make sure you have a presence there. Your presence in these places can work like emailing someone. If you have followers on these sites and they continually see you sharing stories, business posts etc., they will also get to know you, and eventually buy from you.
6. ATTRACTION MARKETING
If you haven’t heard of this term, get familiar with it. The best part about working online is if you get this strategy figured out, you’ll never have to feel like you’re selling anyone. You position yourself in front of the right audience, provide solutions to their problems, and they’ll be attracted to your offer like bees to honey. It’s not about spamming people with your product and affiliate links. Share your journey, lifestyle, success stories, struggles, solutions. Show your followers you’re a real person and you’re like them, provide them with value, and they’ll come to you. From there you build genuine relationships and those are the people who will become life-long customers.
Remember it’s not about the product, it’s about YOU and YOUR BRAND.
